rhythm of africa, werribee zoo

This is a fantastic family evening to and we look forward to it every year. The atmosphere is always great and there is plenty of entertainment to see you through the evening.

Rhythm of Africa returns with live music, African-inspired food, dancing, drumming and kids’ activities every Saturday evening in January and February.

The evening begins at 5.30pm with special performances for the kids along with face-painting and hair-braiding, before the headline act begins at 6pm.

Safari Tours through the Savannah will run until 6pm and the African Pula Trail will remain open until 8pm, allowing you to explore the Zoo in the cool of the evening, spotting Hippos, Cheetah, Wild Dogs and Monkeys.

If the weather’s warm, don’t forget to bring the kids’ bathers and hit the trail for a cooling splash through the extended water play area with Hippo Splash.

There is also African-inspired food and drinks available for purchase or you are welcome to bring your own blankets, hampers and beverages for a relaxed picnic. Please note the Meerkat Bistro will not be serving alcoholic beverages during the evening but visitors who wish to bring their own alcohol may do so.

Rhythm of Africa is an all-weather event and entry is included in the general zoo admission price. Children under 16 receive free entry to Werribee Open Range Zoo on weekends, school holidays and public holidays.
