Mister Maker just hit Australia and Mamma's Sammi and Erin were thrilled to chat to him about all things arty and gloopy glue as well as his upcoming tour with his National Tour and Melbourne Shows NEXT WEEK!
Phil Gallagher is the man behind the fabulous Mister Maker and in real life he is just as energetic, lovely, caring and bubbly as his character on the TV - taking time with the kids, ooh and ahh at the arty gifts they had brought him and even draw a little shape picture on Miss M's cast (the poor lass broke her leg in a trampoline incident a couple of weeks back).
We caught up for a relaxed chat in the National Galleries Sculpture Garden today, and Mamma must say it was real treat. We thanked him for giving us parents the 'scissors are sharp' mantra - this has saved many a toddler from cutting their finger. We also learned that Phil is a puppeteer, keeps his best artwork on his ginormous fridge and loves Melbourne coffee! AND Tilly Mamma's 5 year old reporter got to ask her fave TV star some more cool questions:
So Mister Maker what is your favourite thing to make on the show? OOooohhh good question - my favourite thing to make is my 'fake food - baked beans on toast! Using a kitchen sponge, tissue paper all scrunched up as the beans and then you make up a mixture of gloopy glue and orange paint and poor it all over the top like the sauce - everything sticks together then you sprinkle it with tissue paper 'cheese' ...yum yum.
Do you hang out with Scraps after the show? Unfortunately, Scraps isn't on tour with us at the moment as he is back home cleaning up all the mess from our Arty Parties! I do miss him though.
Was it hard making the TV show into a stage show? Well, we wanted to make it much bigger and different to the TV show so we have added some great dancing with THE SHAPES and singing too with lots of 80's and 90's hits in the mix to really get the party going! It is a very FUN show with heaps of audience participation as well.
So how many times have you been to Melbourne? This is our third time and we love visiting. I love to walk around the city when we arrive, down to Southbank and of course I can't wait to get my first Melbourne coffee. So good.
One last question....How do you get the Mister Making theme song out of your head? ooohh la la la la! Well, quite simply - you don't and there are plenty more catchy tunes in the live show to enjoy looooong after it finishes.
