nurture some nearby nature
Getting into nature is a necessity for Mamma and the crew and lucky for us we have some fantastic spots to enjoy nearby. Each one of these places have a little something to offer from the manicured historic gardens of Werribee Park to the serenity and widlife of Serendip Sanctuary to the playscape bushland fun at Brimbank Park - each unique and all of them free for us to enjoy any day of the week. Here are some of Mamma's top picks to inspire you to nurture some nearby nature, now let the nature adventures begin.
Newport Lakes is a beautiful bushland oasis with its two big lakes, lots of native birds and grassy spots for picnics, it's a wonderful place to bring the family for a day of wildlife watching and native plant spotting.
We in the West are blessed with Melbourne's most beautiful river right on our doorstep (you can't blame Mamma for being biased) and The Maribyrnong River Trail provides endless opportunities to choose your own outdoor adventure to enjoy it via foot, bike or trike.
Mamma was told to expect the best views in Melbourne and was not disappointed. The top of the 100 Steps provides uninterrupted 360 degree views of the You Yangs, Melbourne and the Bay. It is downright breathtaking and energising climbing to the top.
What was once a degraded rifle range is now an important conservation area and a great place to explore. Mamma and the crew love getting up close and personal with our nature spots and Jawbone Flora and Fauna Reserve is one of the best places in the West to appreciate our native coastal critters.
