Mamma loves to see things from a different perspective, so sailing to the City on a big ferry from Wyndham Harbour sounds like an excellent way to spend some time! We waved to Williamstown, spotted Scienceworks, cruised under the Westgate Bridge passing by the mouth of the Maribyrnong River, come up close to a cargo ship and some tugs boats, passed the huge port, under the Bolte Bridge and into Victoria Harbour.
This Ferry is designed to be a commuter Ferry for people heading into work in the City from the Wyndham area - but Mamma thinks it is also good for tourists and families to jump aboard and see some sights and have some fun too!
The boat is huge with plenty of room inside and big windows to sit in the cabin comfortably to catch the bay views. It is a very smooth ride (Mamma has been told it can get a bit rough though) with friendly staff and a very 'cruisey' way to travel. We did a quick round trip to the city and back however you could catch the boat in, spend the day around the Docklands and City and catch the late arvo boat home depending on yours and the ferries schedule of course!
You can take your pram or stroller on board as there is plenty of room to stow bulkier items as you walk in the door, then choose between the downstairs or upstairs to sit, the latter having access to an outdoors ‘balcony’ at the back of the boat. There are toilets on board and you can bring your own snacks (there isn’t any on board to purchase or anything)
Mamma's special mention:
Joes Corner Cafe is located at Wyndham Harbour and good for a coffee on the weekends.
