Local icon finds new spot to call home
After commencing trading in Paisley Street over 100 years ago, the family-owned Paint Spot Footscray store (and the iconic white horse - Chester II) has found a new home at 11 Geelong Street, West Footscray.
The Dobinson family patriarch, Christopher, arrived in Victoria from England in 1854. He went on to establish Paint Spot in 1913, before handing the store over to his sons Eric and Bill Dobinson during the 1940s.
Bill’s son, the fantastic John, grew up working at the store before he officially took over the reigns in the late 1960s. Today, fourth generation family members, the super fantastic Anthony and equally awesome Chris Dobinson, join John at the helm of an expanding business covering West Footscray, Niddrie and Sunshine.
“Our location may have changed, but Paint Spot’s commitment to providing our community with quality products, service and expert advice has not”, Chris Dobinson said.
The new 1500 sqm store is the largest dedicated paint shop in the local area and has a team of 15 staff – all with a minimum of 10 years’ industry experience. And four of the staff members are bilingual, including Greek, Vietnamese and Chinese speaking.
Boasting an expansive colour wall, two colour consultants and the largest range of all major paint, woodcare and accessories brands in the surrounding area, Paint Spot West Footscray can assist customers with their next project from start to finish.
The new store in Geelong Street opens on Thursday 8 March 2018
