the rhythm tree @ newport community hub, newport

This has to be one of Mamma's favourite style of music class. One where there is a limited soundtrack, the adults are wholeheartedly involved and the children have an absolute ball! The Rhythm Tree is a music program that is based on community. Where people come together and celebrate music with their children, supporting them to learn through song and play. The kids are invited to join in but are not made to do anything they don't wish to - although with so much excitement and fun - it is hard not to jump on in and play.

Classes are filled with pure joy from the moment the doors are opened. Teachers quickly learn all the names - parents and children - and ensures all are included, just like a big family. Sessions can include chanting songs, call and echo, action songs, plenty of dancing and singing. And a music class can not be complete without the egg shakers and huge gathering drums. The mix of ages in the group makes for a wonderful learning experience in sharing, packing up and playing together as well.

Mamma's special mention: The Rhythm Tree offers free trials via the website. It is a great way to get a taste of the program for yourself.
