gardens of tieve tara @ mount macedon

Sorry, the gardens close May 31 and re open in Spring! Mamma found herself saying these words over and over again while discovering this piece of heaven in Mount Macedon.  It feels like you have stepped into a real life Monet painting.  The original gardens were created around 1860 and the property has changed owners many times in this period - they also only barely survived the 1983 Ash Wednesday fires that claimed the main house.  There are 7.5 acres of magical gardens here, with gorgeous bridges and (unfenced) lakes filled with lily pads and guarded by the (seemingly friendly!) geese. They also cater for the kiddos with two little playgrounds, a kitsch fairy garden and surprises dotted around the garden. This place is TRULY incredible and a MAMMA MUST SEE!

Mamma's special mention: After a stroll through the gardens head to the Mount Macedon pub for some lunch!
