So, this ain't your average nursery....this place is like a magical jungle full of exotic plants, hidden treasures and artworks at every turn.
What a gem of a place!
Spend an hour here, or the whole day - you can tailor your fun and do as much or as little as your family can manage.
This lovely lighthouse is dubbed 'the white queen' and has had her time in the spotlight when it was the location for the old TV show Round the Twist and more recently on Masterchef.
You WILL need good, solid, comfortable footwear that grips, you WILL need to bring some water bottles, you WILL DEFINITELY need your camera
Third Sunday of the month Now Mamma has a secret – if you have a train fanatic in your fam Bulla Hill Miniature Railway is a fantastic way to hang out on a Sunday or how about a birthday party?
If you've been thinking of taking the kids fishing but a bit afraid of what that might entail...well Mamma's got your answer. An hour and a half out of Melbourne is Tuki Trout Farm - this place is picturesque, peaceful and absolutely guarantees you a fresh fish catch.
As soon as you step into this magical place you could be forgiven for thinking you've somehow stumbled into the European countryside - minus the $$$ airfares of course! Mamma has loved this place for many years and the love affair is still gong strong.
This is a fantastic place for the little ones to get close to the animals and learn about their environment..
It was built in 1959 when the displays were predominantly made by hand and despite being updated it still holds it's magical kitschy qualities.
Yes, here is yet another botanical garden to add to the picnic list!
Smooth pathways and wondrous sculptures - it is a fantastic outdoor adventure for the family.

Geelong’s Eastern Beach is a wonderful sunny day destination – midweek it can be a quiet place for you to relax and unwind with your pre-schooler and weekends you’ll find it teeming with kids of all ages diving and swimming in the protected waterfront
We in the West are blessed with Melbourne's most beautiful river right on our doorstep (you can't blame Mamma for being biased) and The Maribyrnong River Trail provides endless opportunities to choose your own outdoor adventure to enjoy it via foot, bike or trike.
Mamma says visiting this park on the lake is a must for any true blue Westie. Gaze over the water and take a little time to unwind while your little (and big!) ones explore and the Lions Market is on here on the first Sunday of the month!
There is something really special about adventure playgrounds. This playground in particular is a Mamma favourite!
Boys and girls - as we start our descent into Tarniet - please make sure your seat backs and tray tables are in their full upright position for landing.
Regatta Beach Playground is very different from anything in the west. The equipment is unique, the lovely cool breeze over the lake keeps it comfortable on warmer days plus the peaceful surrounds all make for a great experience for everyone.
It's BACK! Mamma (and plenty of passionate and dedicated locals) have been eagerly waiting the return of this fabulous park in Point Cook. With it's signature pirate ship perched on top of the hill with a fantastic view and that SLIDE, this park is a winner.
Well, Altona and it’s surrounds are beautiful we all know that! Then you discover places like this and you fall in love all over again. This park is one of those gems that’s hard to believe you’ve never been to before but you will definitely visit again and again.
This is a magical place to visit with such glorious gardens you definitely need to put aside a good couple of hours to explore the ponds, fountains, green house, sculpture walks, cafes and more.
Well congratulations Sunshine West - right now, this is one of Mamma's favourite parks. The double fun flying fox is the best addition to a park in the West and how cool is the impressive centre piece of the playground, one enormous rocket ship slide?
Mamma loves a chilled out local. That’s exactly what Hopheads is - a friendly little bar (bottle shop and tasting room) where you are sure to bump in to some OTHER friendly locals.
The Cosmopolitan Hotel sits proudly on the corner on the main strip and you will be drawn to it’s original pub facade and the scent of wood fire. Inside is exactly what you want - cozy and rustic, with a warm fire place to create the perfect atmosphere.
Well here it is folks - a fantastic pub that is down to earth, family focused and welcoming.
This is a step up from your average pub - the food is EXCELLENT

Down the alley and up the staircase from uber cool Slice Girls lies a wonderful world of happiness. It's comforting, and warm (sometimes with toasty fire) , and rustic-ly gorgeous and.... just really cool.
This cozy old pub in the Wombat Forest in Blackwood is rich in history - opening in 1868 at the height of the Gold Rush. This great old pub has a lovely ambience - with the fire place and couch area in winter and the deck out the back under the old oak tree in the warmer months.
A gastro pub with some super style in the heart of Werribee. They have really covered all bases at this great pub - Mamma will cheers to that AND their sunday children’s farm is returning as of January 20!
