Altona is a beautiful spot to visit anytime of the year and following the positive feedback from last year’s trial the Altona Beach Precinct will be happening again this summer! This is great and means the whole street section near the beach will be transformed into a colourful, fun and safe pedestrian-only zone.

The Esplanade from Bent Street to Pier Street will be closed to cars from 1 December to 28 February to create a safer environment for beachgoers plus similar to last year, the space will feature a table tennis table and other large games, moveable street furniture, tree planter boxes and temporary 'beach box' shelters.

This year, the Council has also added more beach umbrellas and a portable basketball hoop. Some parallel parking spots on the beach end of Pier Street will also be converted into extended outdoor dining areas. Awesome!

It is a perfect place to meet with friends have a game of giant chess in Weaver Reserve, grab a bite to eat before heading to the beach for the day.
