sculpture walk, werribee park

Sometimes art galleries and kids don't mix - so this is a great opportunity to enjoy some intriguing sculptures in wonderful surrounds. The pieces of art are all outdoors and dotted throughout the gardens and farm of the Werribee Mansion (around the back!). You'll also find some down in the heritage orchard and river area too.

The majority of the sculptures are on the 'upper levels' of the grounds and mostly pram accessible, there are one or two that go further down the river and orchard areas - located down some steep stairs and worth venturing to if you have kids that can manage more walking.

The pieces are all works of Australia's leading sculptors'  and selected winners of the national Helen Lempriere Award. Mamma says the walk is a great place for a family photo opportunity and we didn't want to include too many photos so you can enjoy the discovery yourself! Oh it is a perfect spot for picnics too, so take snacks!

When you head on the path towards the river and arrive at the HUGE PICTURE FRAME  - make sure you look across the the Werribee Open Range Zoo savanna - you are likely to spot all kinds of animals like giraffe, ostrich and the rhino. If you are lucky!

Mamma's special mentions:  We love it here - you could seriously spend a day at Werribee Park, here are some other places to check out:
- The Little Red Train
- State Rose Garden
- Werribee Mansion Spa
