piknik, swan bay

Mamma says next time you are on the road in the Swan Bay area and you see the big Piknik sign - take it as a GOOD SIGN to stop and drop in for a bite.  This converted old Golden Fleece roadhouse has charm, FANTASTIC food and super friendly service.  Locals and owners Denise and Dave Humphris are living the life on the peninsula and have created a fantastic relaxed culinary oasis.  The menu created by chefs Hamish Hames and Scott Marshall (who are locals but have done their time in top city restaurants) is supurb with simple options and regular fav's and then the more adventurous and special dishes - Mamma had an incredible Portugese inspired dish which had pork, pippies, potato in a garlic and white wine sauce - and we watched them cut the fresh herbs for the dish from the veggie patch right in front of us. Delish. The space has a couple of lovely areas to dine indoors and then a large rustic annex with fireplace and large communal tables.  Kids and dogs are most welcome too.  Everyone is welcomed here.  Don't forget to grab some of the sauces and relishes made right here in house too.

Mamma's special mention: Tuckerberry Hill Berry Farm is just up the road for some in-season berry picking.
