black arts brewery, williamstown north

Named after the mystery and magic of the fermentation process, Black Arts Brewery is a local hidden gem like no other. We have met many local Westie folks doing great things and owner Josh is not only making great beer, gin and ciders, but he lives and breathes the art of creating amazing beverages.

This is a nano brewery and one of Australia's top-rated breweries (on Untappd). Tucked away in the industrial past of Willy North near the refinery, it is only licenced for 15 people at a time so grab a group of buddies and taste your way through time.

Yes, Black Arts have a lager and a few other beers on tap, all delicious but a typical sitting here at the communal table will have you time warped into the past. The bygone brewing techniques used here take you back to the days of honey mead, dark ales and oak barrel fermented beers.

We are not experts by any means but the complex tastes of the heritage apple cider are amazing, the farmhouse ales, sour IPA’s really an experience rather than just drinking beer.

Josh is more than happy to chat with you about his passion - as they say at Black Arts this is: so much more than a beer. Oh and we have it on good authority that the rum is also amazing!
