Experience THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride at The Bellarine Railway this December!
Get ready to embark on a magical journey this Christmas as THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride comes to the historic town of Queenscliff. The Bellarine Railway is delighted to bring this unique event to the Greater Geelong area, offering six days of festive fun and lasting memories. People of all ages can now experience the enchanting world of Chris Van Allsburg's cherished children's book in a whole new way.
THE POLAR EXPRESS™ passengers will be presented with their Golden Ticket upon their arrival at Queenscliff. Just be sure to hold onto this souvenir ticket in case it slips out the carriage window. Upon stepping onto the platform, the Conductor will greet everyone and start THE POLAR EXPRESS™ journey.
Families will be captivated by an immersive theatrical experience that brings iconic characters to life. From the Conductor’s memorable question to the lively 'Hot Chocolate' dance, a mysterious encounter with the Hobo, caroling onboard the train, and a magical visit from Santa, each moment captures the essence of the movie.
Midway through the journey, passengers will be offered a chocolatey drink and homemade treats, served by THE POLAR EXPRESS™ ‘chefs’. As the journey continues, families will be invited to join in singing popular Christmas carols. At the journey's end, keep an eye out for the Elves, who will lead the way to the North Pole to meet Santa Claus. Every passenger will receive a special memento of the journey from the Jolly man himself – The first gift of Christmas!
How to prepare for this festive adventure!
Book Early: Families are encouraged to secure their all-inclusive tickets early, as shows are expected to fill up quickly.
Dress Code: Embrace the Christmas spirit by arriving dressed in coordinating Christmas PJ’s or fun festive attire.
THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Colour Sheets: In November, we will be sending THE POLAR EXPRESS™ coloring sheets to ticket holders. Children can choose their favorite scenes from the movie and use colorful crayons, pencils, or paint to bring these sheets to life. We encourage children to bring their creations to Queenscliff and share them with everyone by adding their artwork to the display wall!
Capture the Memories: Don't forget to bring your cameras or smartphones to capture all the special moments. From THE POLAR EXPRESS™ steam locomotive to interactions with the movie's characters, there will be plenty to remember!

About the Bellarine Railway
The Bellarine Railway is operated by the Geelong Steam Preservation Society, a not-for-profit founded in 1970. The society was the first Victorian preserved railway established entirely by volunteers and features a unique collection of locomotives and carriages from 3’6″ narrow-gauge systems across Australia.
Trains first ran at Belmont Common in Geelong, before operations moved (1976) to the Queenscliff-Drysdale section of the former Victorian Railway’s South Geelong-Queenscliff branch line, which opened in May 1879. Originally, broad gauge, the line was converted to 3’6” between Queenscliff and Lakers Siding in time for the line's centenary, with the remaining section to Drysdale reopened in 1980.
Today the railway offers steam train journeys, experiences and family events year-round. Corporate Partnerships are held with the legendary Blues Train and fabulous Q Train, enhancing the rail experiences offered to visitors in the region.
