Cedar Bakery in Moonee Ponds is a cafe, Lebanese bakery and a middle eastern supermarket all rolled into one! Catering for vegans, vegetarians and meat eaters alike, Mamma loves to devour their traditional lamb and garlic Manousheh, pastries, zaatar, mezza and dips with all of spices... oh so yum! They also have a middle eastern inspired supermarket on site for some takeaway goodies!

If you’re around the Tullamarine area and need a good feed for you and the kids, Mamma definitely recommends Burgertory, where heavenly burgers meet sinful flavours! We all know Schulz Organic Dairy for their beautiful organic milk – but nothing prepares you for the incredible food here. Honestly, we’d recommend making the 2.5-hour trip just for this spot alone.

Discover La Esquina in the west – a vibrant hub of Latin culture! Enjoy authentic food, live music, and a family-friendly atmosphere. With delicious dishes and even an on-site barber shop, it’s the perfect spot for a fun and unique experience.

The menu here at Quarter Two Cafe in Moonee Ponds features unique and delicious all day breakfast options such as coconut honey porridge, ricotta hot cakes, avo smash, and mortadella benedict. The lunch choices are fab too - Mamma is absolutely OBSESSED with the steak roll - it has to be up there with some of the best we’ve eaten! This Asian Fusion restaurant sits above the Pavilion and overlooks the incredible Eastern Beach. Caledonia Shores has been running since 2022 over the warmer months and it’s the PERFECT spot for a special summery dinner.

All tables are serviced by the ‘train’, just choose your order via the tablet on the table and then wait for your delivery! It’s fun and efficient!

We LOVE the food here - heaps of your Japanese faves, with everything from plain sushi rolls, ceviche, fried chicken, nigiri, gyoza - and the desserts are great too with mochi ice cream, chocolate spring roll with ice cream or pannacotta with matcha ice cream - ALL were excellent.

If you’re going to get a train from Sunshine, the perfect stop for breakfast or lunch and a coffee has just opened up - My Avocado Cafe.

The Daylesford Hotel, located in the heart of Daylesford recently had a revamp and oh wow it’s gorgeous. The guys from local institutions Cliffy’s and Beppe have created something very special here. The food is incredible - still with pub classics like a parma and fish n chips, but also duck pie, rabbit bisteeya and oysters - and there's a kids menu too. The pub has an old style appeal, but beautifully appointed, and so welcoming.

You know when you basically roll out of a restaurant with full bellies and everyone exclaims how good that was, you’re on to a winner. Meat Mechanics has just opened in Altona near Altona Primary School and it is absolutely delicious.

Darling St Espresso is serving up fresh and delicious food in a welcoming and cosy space. Mamma’s little ones love coming here and be greeted with their own menu, that includes a colouring page, pencils and a special kids sized cutlery set and cup.

The quality of the seafood here is undeniable. This is owned and operated by the Tran family, D&K has chefs from all over Melbourne ordering up some of their fine seafood.

Elka Sushi takes fresh sushi to a whole new level! Located across the road from its sister store the iconic D & K Live Seafood, it uses the freshest ingredients to make amazing delicious dishes.

You know what you’re getting when you walk into Roccos Deli.

You’re getting a Rocco’s Roll, a taste sensation of a sub, packed with flavour and a whole bunch of goodness. This classic sub has pesto, olives, cheese, capsicum and your choice of (freshly sliced) cold meats. Mamma says don’t leave anything out - get it with the lot!

Mamma loves the relaxed atmosphere, vineyards and plenty of grass for the kids to run wild!

Silo No 9 is a new West Melbourne café that sits within a beautifully restored brick building beneath Melbourne’s first high-rise concrete grain silo. Honestly, it’s as inviting as it is unexpected! Their weekday menu is flavour-focused and built around house-made staples. Think egg and bacon rolls, focaccias, chunky angus slow cooked beef pies and Detroit style sliced pizza - yum!

Located just out of Portarlington, Hounds of the Vine is just the perfect place to meet some friends and relax with a glass (or two). Feast your eyes on The Feasting Shed in Werribee - it's so much more than a cafe - it's a feast for the eyes AND the mouth! The Backyard est 2016 has an AMAZING backyard and INCREDIBLE food! This fantastic Newport cafe in Melbourne’s West has a huge space out the back…perfect for the kiddos to run around in, with fake green grass, a blackboard wall, and lots of bits and pieces for the kids to play with. The menu is amazing - with faves like yummy hot chips and waffles and burgers but also great Asian fusion items that are mouth watering - yummo!

Ahoy chocolate lovers - chocolate heaven does exist, and it’s located right on our doorsteps! The Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery in Bellbrae is absolutely amazing. The place is filled to the brim with chocolate, ice cream, high tea, chocolate factory tours, a cafe, an outdoors area with a sandpit, grassed area and even guinea pigs to play with!

Jack Rabbit in Portarlington is an award winning winery and is one of the most popular spots to visit on the Bellarine Peninsula. The House of Jack Rabbit (cafe) is for more relaxed dining with access to the deck and that wonderful grassy expanse for rolling, playing and hopping down. They also have a kids menu too! There is also the restaurant located here too - perfect for a special occasion.
