What a treat Matsu is! This Kaiseki experience is like nothing Footscray or the West has seen before. Welcome to the west Matsu.

Firstly, Kaiseki is all about small, divine meals and this cosy, blink and you’ll miss it, now located at their new 10 seat restaurant, it is the perfect way to experience this kind of intimate style dining.

Part art, part show and all flavour, Chef Han (also a Westie) is the star of the show, with his impeccable dishes, fabulous presentation and interesting stories with each menu item served.

Oh, he also takes you through the best way to eat each course as he delivers his menu.

This is a set menu type arrangement, Chef Han serves with the seasons and sources only the best quality of everything. The dishes are small so you can savour every flavour with perfectly positioned and measured ingredients. But don’t think you’ll leave here hungry - there are many courses!

Booking release dates are usually every second Thursday and can book out quickly so be ready.

This is such an amazing experience and we were so happy to be able to enjoy it.
