xuan banh cuon, sunshine

Hailed as one of the food critic’s go-tos when eating at in the West, Xuan Banh Cuon serves delicious Northern style Vietnamese dishes. This is Mamma’s destination for a quick and cheap eat you know is going to be filled with flavour!

Banh cuon is, of course, the dish of the restaurant. Thin, made-to-order steamed rice paper rolls wrapped around a delicious filling of pork and ear mushroom. It’s simply moreish.

Other menu items include spring rolls, wonton soup, fried chicken and soup noodles, and more. Yummy stuff!

A wonderful treat for the kids is a toss between the classic fresh soy drink on ice, or the coconut jelly served in the fruit! $1 iced tea for the summer is a choice not needing deliberation, but hot tea is stationed on every table if that’s more to your style.

The point is - there’s no wrong choice here, and $20 is going to get you a long way. Mamma loves the food options in Sunshine and this classic joint is a gem.
