buckley falls, highton

Hiding out the back of Geelong is Buckley Falls - a little surprise package of fun, adventure and beauty! These falls are a great way to spend a few hours exploring. Now, when we say falls - these are more rapids but still worth the effort.

First up head to the lookout to see them from above an then make your way down the stairs to check them out a little closer. Once you have clocked the main area Mamma wants you to head further down the Barwon river…this is where we had our fun.

A few hundred metres along the river you will see the old Fyansford Paper Mill looming over the cliff edge, and looks beautifully abandoned (until you actually venture there and see how cool it is).

Below the paper mill are some gorgeous river pools with plenty of rock hopping and cascading water. THIS was stunning. Be sure to be careful as you cross the rocks and slowly step across the piece of timber that acts as a rickety bridge to get to the other side!
