FREE disc golf course, stony creek - yarraville

So Mamma thought she knew the west relatively well….then we heard about the Stony Creek Disc Golf Course….how did we miss this fabulous place?

Firstly, in case you didn’t know Disc Golf uses similar rules to actual golf but you use a disc (like a fancy Frisbee). You start at the tee off area and aim towards a basket or hole. Each hole or basket has a par and the aim of the game is exactly like golf, get the disc into the elevated metal basket in the least amount of throws.

It really is very simple, as with most sports though there is levels of seriousness folks play this at with weighted special discs and throwing techniques. Mostly, this is just a really fun game anyone can play.

What do I need to do to play disc golf here?

  • No bookings are needed

  • There are 16 holes here

  • Bring your own disc/frisbee

  • Anyone can play

  • Check out the rules on the board at the start of the course

  • Have a practice in the basket at the first tee

  • Watch out for flying discs on the fairway

  • Free parking available

  • Have fun!

The use of the space on Stony Creek reserve is fantastic, the views over the Westgate Bridge are great and the kids love it. We just took one or two of our beach type frisbees with us to have a go and check it out. The professionals using the course are very friendly and great to watch play.

Mamma’s special mentions: Disc Golf is a thing here in Melbourne and there are other courses you can check out too and a website to buy discs from too. Check that out here
