The Altona Meadows Library and Learning Centre has had a FRESH refurbishment and it is an amazing and inspiring space for everyone. This is so much more than a library and now it has its very own STEAM Centre of Excellence!

Firstly let’s talk STEAM (Science, technology, engineering, art, maths) Centre of Excellence. The STEAM centre has lots of things available to learn and explore.

Book in for great workshops to learn how to 3D print your own key ring, check out the great selection of items you can borrow to take home (like Ozobots, Osmo and Sphero BOLT robotics), or join the STEAM club to use your creativity and test out technology.

It’s all free and there is something for EVERYONE! Their STEAM festival runs until the 30th November, so check it out before it’s too late.

Secondly, Mamma the Children’s Room. This is a huge separate space for pre schoolers and includes: an interactive floor at the entrance, plenty of space to crawl around, a sand play area, a light up reading tree, an abundance of books, and of course Story Times. Oh and now the new Discovery Time - which is more STEAM focused play based learning sessions for the kids!

But wait there’s more, Mamma also loves the media centre (green screen, lighting), community presentation space, AI Art creator, Makers Hub (with 3D printer), sound proof meeting rooms (we tested it!) new PC’s and a lovely sunny courtyard…and of course books as far as the eye can see.

Oh we love the new browse and borrow stand too - grab those freshly returned books that are literally flying off the shelves.

This is such a great resource for everything the community needs - and of course, it’s all FREE! We could talk about it all day - you really need to come and check it out and see it all for yourself.
