Autumn is a great time to visit Scienceworks. They have some great exhibitions like: The Illuminate exhibition and Mamma says make time to catch a Fulldome Flick at the Planetarium too!

They also have their amazing school holiday programs in full swing too!

This Autumn Holidays at Scienceworks they have prepared answers to all your poo-related ponderings. Find out just how important poo and wee are and where they go after they leave your body. Marvel at the fascinating science and engineering around this stinky subject.

There’ll be a free poo-themed amphitheatre show full of spectacular demonstrations and an augmented reality (AR) experience of the Pumping Station, as well as interactive activities.

Oh and don’t forget to also visit the Lightning Room and all the other interactive exhibitions and go on one of their daily tours.

Illuminate

Illuminate is a new exhibition showing for a limited time at Scienceworks! It explores the science behind the fastest traveller in the universe – light. Ignite the senses and learn through hands-on interactive play. What is light, what can we do with it and how do we see? In this vibrant festival-themed exhibition you will explore visual perception and illumination through colour, sound and action.

This innovative augmented reality (AR) adventure brings to life the Spotswood Pumping Station and the people who worked there.

Travel back to 1942 and complete challenges based on real historical events. You must ensure the Pumping Station continues to operate so Melbourne doesn’t turn back into 'Smellbourne'!

STEM Lab Activities

Thought you knew everything you wanted to know about poo? Think again! Head to the STEM lab to find out how fascinating and far reaching this material really is.

Choose a comfy seat and take some time out while you browse our collection of poo-related picture books. You’ll find out that hippos use poo to navigate, where it all goes when you flush, and that some animals have poo that is uniquely theirs.

From Sandwich to Sewage

Follow the epic odyssey from food to poo and down the loo. From sandwich to sewage follows the pathway our food takes from being crushed in the mouth to mushed through the body and flushed down the loo.
