Challenge your imagination and engineering skills to create a miniature metropolis in cardboard city or visit the Illuminate exhibition before it closes and explore the science behind the fastest traveller in the universe – light.

You can also visit the Lightning Room, Planetarium and interactive exhibitions and go on one of our daily tours

Illuminate is a new exhibition showing for a limited time at Scienceworks! It explores the science behind the fastest traveller in the universe – light. Ignite the senses and learn through hands-on interactive play. What is light, what can we do with it and how do we see? In this vibrant festival-themed exhibition you will explore visual perception and illumination through colour, sound and action.

The Colour Combo

12PM AND 2PM DAILY | INCLUDED WITH ENTRY
Take a seat in our under-cover amphitheatre for a playful look at COLOUR! See plenty of colourful demonstrations in this free 20-minute live show. We’ll shine a light on what happens when colours are mixed or separated and how our eyes perceive colour.

The Cardboard Crafters
10am to 1pm Daily | included with entry
Help build a cardboard city these school holidays! From towering skyscrapers and futuristic spaceports to winding roads and bustling city squares the possibilities are endless.

FlushBack Ipad Activity
1:30pm, 2:30pm | $3 per person 45 for an additional ipad
Go on an augmented reality (AR) adventure that brings to life the Spotswood Pumping Station and the people who worked there.
Travel back to 1942 and complete challenges based on real historical events. You must ensure the Pumping Station continues to operate so Melbourne doesn’t turn back into 'Smellbourne'!ck into 'Smellbourne'!

The Glow Show

Collection Store tours

Go on a behind-the-scenes tour of the Scienceworks Collection Store to see some of the 40,000 collection items stored at Scienceworks and listen to the stories of these rare and unique items.
