Hippo beach and water play at Werribee Zoo is awesome!

The beachy area is right next to the hippo water play area which means you've got summer covered - first, spot some actual hippos snoozing on the bank and gliding through the water, then hit the beach for some serious sand play and relaxing beneath the thatched umbrellas.

Grab an ice cream while watching the little ones enjoy feeling the sand between their toes, and climbing over the hippo sculptures

Be sure to pack the kids’ bathers (or at least a change of clothes) for a cooling splash through the hippo water play area, before jumping on the safari tour for more zootastic animal experiences like rhinos, giraffe, zebra and ostrich out on the savannah.

Please note: The water play area is activated when temperatures reach 25 degrees celsius or above.

Please feel free to ask the admission staff when you arrive if the water play area will be turned on that day.
