The Wallace Hotel – Big family feels, bigger roasts and a beautiful backyard

Just off the Western Freeway, tucked into the little country town of Wallace, sits a pub that’s absolutely worth the pit stop - or Mamma says perhaps even a day trip.

The Wallace Hotel is one of those places that feels like a bit of a hidden gem… if that gem just happened to include chandeliers, taxidermy-style décor, swirly carpet and a full-size tram parked out the back!

From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with high ceilings and character (think deer antlers and quirky vintage touches), and a sense of space!

The main dining room is massive - a true log cabin dining hall while the front bar gives off old-school local vibes where you could easily lose an afternoon with a bag of chips, a pot or two and a good pal.

Step outside and things get even more interesting. There are multiple garden areas (yes, multiple), each with its own charm, whether you’re after shady trees, and dappled sunlight or want to settle into one of the outdoor nooks with the kids racing around nearby. And yes, you read that right - there’s an actual full size tram in one of the gardens!

It’s a hit with little ones and makes for a pretty iconic Sunday session backdrop.

Speaking of Sundays, the roasts here are legendary. Generous, delicious, and exactly what you want in a foodie adventure. The helpings are generous, tasty and quick!
If you are after a good meal by the fire in winter or a long lunch under the trees in warmer weather Mamma says be sure to add The Wallace Hotel to your country pub list!
