Mamma totally gets it. A fenced playground is worth its weight in gold. Whether you have multiple children under your wing or your little ones are ... what can I say ... adventurous, a park that has a gate can make an excursion to the park just that little bit more comfortable. It is also the number one question that we are asked - can you recommend a great fenced park? Well lovelies, here they are. The great fenced playgrounds we have uncovered in Melbourne's West.
Rippleside Inclusive Playspace near Geelong is a must add to your adventure list folks - it might be one of the best parks that Mamma has ever been to! The playspace is part of the Livvi’s Place network which means it’s fully inclusive for all kids of all abilities. It's fenced, has swings, slides, water and sensory play galore, is shaded, has toilets and BBQ's - what more could a Mamma ask for!
Your kids can be the 'kings and queens of the castle' at Victory Park in Ascot Vale - it is literally a big wooden castle complete with turrets, slides, ramps, stairs, hidey holes, sandpit, swings and much more. There is a great toddler section with a smaller slide and sandpit plus the bigger kids will love discovering the five other slides around their fortress. Oh, it's mostly fenced too!
Cross Keys playground in Strathmore has a rubber paved bicycle track with traffic signs and the cutest petrol pump that you’ll ever see! Plus so many tactile elements to encourage collective and imaginative play, including shop fronts (yes, a cafe AND a pet shop!) and interactive panels. Be prepared to order pretend babychinos for hours! Oh, did we mention this playground is mostly fenced?
A skate park has opened at the wonderful Errington Reserve in St Albans. It’s a super-dooper addition to the already fantastic play haven. Surrounded by an oval, the skate park joins a circle with a fenced playground, free tennis and basketball courts, BBQ area and community centre. It’s an amazing destination if you have active kiddos that need lots of variety to get worn out.
There’s SO much play equipment to explore at Banchory Green Reserve - a big basket swing, cubby houses, a wave slide, fireman's pole, teacup spinner, scrambling wall, inclined walkway, monkey bars which lead to a lower area for younger kids, tic-tac-toe game, swings, and an awesome wooden car - just to name a few! And did we mention this playground is fully fenced?
In the beautiful town of Gisborne, this Adventure Playground can be found. There is a large diversity of play equipment in the main area, and an enclosed playground for the little ones as well! Expect lots of swings, slides, flying foxes, ramps and tunnels, walkie-talkies and PLENTY of space to run! There are picnic tables, lots of paths for bikes and scooters, and a fenced area for toddlers too!
Bridge Road Regional Play Space is a very popular spot with heaps of families enjoying the equipment and exploring the space. Mamma loves that it is fully fenced in - giving you a relaxed feeling as soon as you let yourself in the secure gate. The kids are then treated to a fantastic array of equipment, bridges, flying fox, slides, sandpits, water play elements, swings and trampolines!
Do you need a place where you can feel relaxed as a parent while the kids explore and play? Have you got a runner? Then Shorten Reserve in West Footscray is for you. Located next to an oval this little playground is fully fenced in (there are a couple of gates you need to check are closed) and Mamma can honestly say plonking on a park bench and taking a breath is actually a possibility here.
Discover a hidden gem beloved by locals at "traffic park"! This popular spot in the Alamanda Estate is fully fenced and is just perfect for young kids, especially preschoolers and those up to six years old. Mamma's little ones literally cannot get enough of this play space! Bring along your helmet and small bikes, scooters, trikes, balance bikes, or similar modes of transportation to make the most of your visit to Traffic Park in Point Cook.
If you're in need of some company, plenty of equipment with loads of adventure then WOW, Presidents Park in Wyndham Vale in Melbourne's West is the spot for you. The playground is mostly fenced with a wooden train, cubby houses, slides, swings, a climbing wall, monkey bars, skate park and more - it's impossible not to find something that both the little ones and the bigger ones will enjoy.

This is a lovely little village park with plenty of shade and a super local relaxed feel. The play equipment mostly caters for lots and lots of toddler fun. Harris Reserve in the popular inner West suburb of Seddon is always busy with friendly locals - there is lots of grassy spots to bring a ball for a kick, or a picnic rug for a little bit of lunch under the shade. And it’s mostly fenced in too, so balls won’t roll onto the street with any luck - fantastic!
