Autumn is a great time to visit Scienceworks. They have some great exhibitions as usual plus lots of other school holiday activities too!
Mamma says to catch a Fulldome Flick at the Planetarium every Saturday in April and May.
This Autumn Scienceworks welcomes all curious kids, big and small for a spectacular journey into science. Learn about the invisible marvel that is air at Air Playground, pop into a free Air-Palooza amphitheatre show for a levitation demonstration or find out about everything that glows at the Glow Show.
Complete your visit with a Planetarium 360 film before exploring the historic Pumping Station through augmented reality with FlushBack.
Oh and don’t forget to also visit the Lightning Room and all the other interactive exhibitions and go on one of their daily tours.

Air Playground

Play with air, the amazing invisible elemental force, and experience hands-on the science of aerodynamics. Whoosh, swirl, gust, squish, flow, float and more at Air Playground! Float objects in mid-air, place material in fast moving air-jets, squish a giant inflatable tentacled sculpture with your body, launch balls sky-high with compressed air and craft paper planes to soar and more.

Immerse yourself in the wonders of air in our free 20-minute live science show. Unveil the secrets of invisible forces, witness levitation demonstrations and explore the power of air pressure through experiments.

Travel back to 1942 and complete challenges based on real historical events. You must ensure the Pumping Station continues to operate so Melbourne doesn’t turn back into 'Smellbourne'!
You’ll be guided by actual workers from the past, brought to life on your device using augmented reality (AR). They will introduce you to each of the major components that enabled the Pumping Station to pump Melbourne’s sewage away from the city for treatment.

Take a seat in the Lightning Theatre and be mesmerised by this visually stunning 30-minute live science show.
Be in awe of the science of glow and explore the fascinating processes behind luminosity, including the many ways a glow can be produced. Discover the science of fluorescence, how animals can appear bright at night and the brilliant, coloured effects of using different materials to make light.
In the spectacular finale, witness our giant Tesla coil light up the theatre with lightning using more than 2 million volts of electricity
Pumping Station Tours

Sniff out some of the smelly stories from the pumping station straining well and explore the magnificent engine room, marvelling at the engineering feat that helped overcome the stench of 19th century Melbourne in our daily Pumping Station tours.
