FREE FAMILY FUN at seawork's winter solstice festival, williamstown
/The Seaworks Winter Solstice Festival is back again this year. This incredible FREE event celebrates the longest night and the shortest day of the year, marking the start of the winter season.
Expect live music, Circus Performers, Food, Fire and light-inspired entertainment, Roaming performers and surprise encounters throughout the precinct
This year’s festival holds special significance, marking the 50-year anniversary of the destruction of the Gellibrand Pile Light, one of Hobsons Bay’s most recognisable maritime landmarks.
Through fire, performance and projections, the festival will honour the memory and legacy of the iconic structure while celebrating the longest night of the year and the symbolic return of light.
WHAT IS WINTER SOLSTICE?
The festival has its roots in ancient traditions and has been celebrated by different cultures around the world for thousands of years. It is often associated with the rebirth of the sun and the return of light after the darkness of winter.
Parking for the event:
There is free parking on Ann Street and paid parking on Nelson Place
