lantern ghost tour, williamstown

Did you know Williamstown hides a network of tunnels, a long-lost cemetery and an old bluestone morgue? Mamma says, hop on the Ghost Lantern Tour to uncover these secrets and more.

As we gathered at the old water fountain and waited to begin, a beautiful owl swooped into Commonwealth Reserve, setting the tone for an eerie two-hour walking tour.

The tour takes you down laneways, back streets, along Nelsons Place to the Timeball Tower and is best suited for older kids (8+) and adults.

It offers a fascinating step back in time that highlights ghostly tales of the folks from yesteryear, with the rich and interesting history of Williamstown.

Your tour guide has great knowledge of the local lore and a genuine interest in the dark past of the people that lived (and died!) here, the historic buildings and surroundings - some of the information we learned about you won’t find in the information centre! Spooky!

So, whether you are a sceptic or a believer or maybe a bit of both - Mamma says take a step into the night and let your imagination take the lead on this journey.

A few extra tips from Mamma:

- Bring an open mind
- Wear sturdy shoes and be prepared for a 2 hour tour
- The path is flat and it is about 2km in total
- Wear appropriate clothing for cold weather in the cooler months
- A drink bottle could be handy if you need
